Lancome Color Design Palettes & Saks GWP

During my brief trip to New York City last week, Saks 5th Avenue happened to be holding a tropical beauty event, "Brushes with Greatness".

Saks was giving away a Stephanie Johnson gold mesh clutch bag filled to the brim with deluxe samples with a beauty purchase of US$150.

The Armani window display with Eyes To Kill and the new Gloss D'Armani.

Yves St Laurent's fall collection, Jardin de Minuit (Midnight Garden), had just freshly arrived in the stores.

I'm not usually a YSL devotee but this Ombres 5 Lumiéres #11 (US$56) with its unusual combination of purples and greens caught my eye from the moment the promotional visuals surfaced online some time ago. The shades turned out to be lovely in real life, so I didn't hesitate to pick it up.

The ultra luxe Dolce & Gabbana.

The Lancome display showcasing the Color Design All-in-one Palettes (US$48).

The Color Design palette in Amethyst Glam has been one of my most frequently used palettes since I purchased it a few months ago. It's funny how the same ad visual is used in the US and Asia for promoting completely different palettes. The US gets the more vibrant Color Design palettes that are made in Canada while Asian countries like Japan and Singapore get the blander Ombre Absolue Impact 3D palettes that are made in Japan.

At Saks, I picked up #400 Teal Fury, #501 Emerald Boudoir and #201 Pink Envy, plus a Color Fever Gloss in On Fire.

I wore Teal Fury yesterday and loved it immediately. The teal is fresh and light, without being frosty or garish.

Emerald Boudoir is one of two Color Design palettes recently released as part of the summer collection, Bronze Sensations, the other being Kissed By Gold. It's a pity that companies like Lancome and Estee Lauder usually don't bother to bring their summer collections to Singapore.

The Color Fever Gloss in On Fire reminded me of MAC Pop Mode lipglass, which was an old favourite many years ago.

Day and night looks for Pink Envy and Teal Fury

The generous bounty of samples in the Stephanie Johnson clutch included fragrances from Tom Ford, Fendi, Narcisco Rodriguez, Dior and Cartier.

Makeup samples from Laura Mercier, Estee Lauder and Clinique.

The skincare and bodycare samples.

On top of that, the Lancome SA also gave me this set of deluxe samples, so it was a truly wonderful shopping experience!

So many samples! The SAs there more generous? :-)

Btw, what's that leopard case thing in the second D&G window display pix... Is it makeup (e/s, blush, powder) in leopard spot shapes?

hi milktea,
The leopard print product is a bronzing powder. The leopard print rubs off quite quickly.

Ohhhh... I see. A bronzer would be easier to make rather than makeup in leopard spot shapes I think! ;-) Thx!

I realise that US always has the most generous GWPs! Plus, the minimum amount is so much lower, as the Elizabeth Arden counter and Estee Lauder counters had GWP for over $30 USD that included tote bags, lipsticks, palettes and skincare samples!

I LOVE the lancome palettes - just yesterday I was asking why we don't get this range - Bronze Amour (saw swatches on Temptalia) and Teal Fury look wonderful!

I always feel that the SAs in Europe and US are more generous in giving samples.
