Holiday Collection Launches

Here are some new beauty launches happening at Isetan department store.

The Shu Uemura x Tsumori Chisato collection is finally launching later this week with the Shu fanatic Christmas party happening this Saturday at Tangs Orchard. There will also be a makeup show at Isetan Scotts on 21 November from 2-4pm. The collection was a big hit in Japan but given the high price points in Singapore (e.g the palettes are S$130 and the lipsticks are S$45), I suspect it will be on the counters for a slightly longer time.

The prices sound very similar to the prices here, except, for example, instead of S$130, the palettes are A$130... which makes it quite a bit worse. :P

Btw, do you know if the counters in Singapore have the large cosmetic pouch? :) We have it here, but it's too expensive so I'm hoping Singapore will be cheaper!

Hi,
I'm not sure if we will get the pouch. We might not as it was not available in the US. I'll update on the blog if it is.

Hi Haru,

I am sorry for my non-makeup related question, but I have been curious for the longest time and will like to know what you think.

Do you think that the main reason behind LE items not selling out, as compared to Japan and Taiwan, is mainly due to the higher price points in Singapore? I am quite curious about this because the distributors (such as Mitsui, etc) would rather leave the LE items on the shelve for way too long, then sell it off cheap at Expo/warehouse sales.

Do you think that by slightly reducing their profit margins, they could clear more LE stocks? Or could this be mainly due to the fact that the market in Singapore is considerably smaller? How different is Taiwan as compared to Singapore from a distribution point of view? Why are the prices in Taiwan/Hong Kong lower than Singapore even after GST, assuming that they also get their products through distributors?

If I am not wrong, the after discount price of makeup products offered in department stores (20% of rebate vouchers or direct discount) is still equivalent to the off the shelve price in Taiwan and HK?

What do you think?

Hi Pinky,
You don't have to be an Isetan member to get the RMK set :-)

I can't believe they are sold out in day 1 in japan (according to the mailer). I'm resisting all the possible temptation.. Have been reminding myself that $130 is not something that I can afford on any palette..
